I’ve rarely been satisfied with just the body when sculpting, and I’m no purist when it comes to creating the human form. These pieces started with semi-academic study of a model. Each figure I cast became in my mind a modular unit of reproduction, which is what naturally happens once one makes a mold of a piece. And so I took each casting and modified it to see what new meanings could be imposed on the figure by spotlighting it as an object of repetition and play. |
